Hello, and welcome to Sally&Molly!

I’m so thrilled to share this little world of mine with you. This book began as a simple idea: a story about a girl named Molly and her adventurous kitten, Sally, who has a knack for slipping away and hiding in the most unexpected places. Molly’s days are filled with joyful searches, games of hide-and-seek, and small, heartwarming adventures that celebrate the bond between a child and her pet.

Art

The art in Sally and Molly was crafted with love, using traditional watercolors to create each scene by hand. Every page is designed to immerse you in Molly’s world, with rich search scenes that invite you to linger, look closely, and discover hidden details alongside Molly. I wanted each illustration to feel as alive and vivid as her adventures, so I chose a large format—27.5 cm by 27.5 cm—specifically to showcase every brushstroke and bring a sense of warmth and wonder to each spread.

The illustration process

Each scene follows a process of creating sketches, iterating on them until reaching a strong final sketch, and then developing the line art.
After this, a color test is done digitally, followed by a watercolor test.
Once the colors are finalized, the scene is fully painted in watercolor.
